Atomic does a great job at retaining their talent and developing their artists. Although dependant on show, work/life balance is an important value to the company.
Cons
Projects mostly aimed towards preschoolers.

Lighter/Compositor at Atomic Cartoons
Apr 24, 2023 - Lighter/Compositor in Vancouver, BCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Work is simple if you don't want much stress. Good work/life balance. Good efficient pipeline for the most part. Very relaxed work environment. Team was friendly with strong leaders. RRSP matching at 5% 4% added to salary instead of 2 weeks paid vacation time off if you prefer that. Overtime was a option quite frequently if you wanted to make extra money.
Cons
Work was not very challenging for me. Some pipeline issues could have been improved. Pay could have been higher based off current cost of living in a city like Vancouver or Toronto.

Great place to work
Jan 28, 2023 - Pipeline Technical Director in Vancouver, BCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great work-life balance, you punch out when you're meant to, with zero pressure or guilt. Excellent friendly, knowledgeable and collaborative team. No egos, from artists to executives. Very flexible with working from home, including setting individual hours of availability. Competitive compensation, meeting or exceeding large studios. Awesome developer experience without sitting through a bunch of meetings, spending a huge amount of time preparing to work on even the simplest tasks, or needing to account for every minute of every day.
Cons
The medical/dental benefits could be better, but are comparable to other companies. Some legacy code can get in the way of productivity, which is fairly standard. A new and very promising pipeline is currently in development, though.

Atomic Vancouver is a Great Place to Work.
Aug 6, 2022 - in Vancouver, BCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
-Allowing employees to chose between working from home, in the office or both. -Hire Artist/Production staff from outside of the Vancouver area -Great Leadership -Fun Productions -Competitive Salary -Transparent Company/CEO Jen is fantastic and the senior staff is extremely passionate and really does care for the employees, but my favorite thing is they don't pretend to be a family. They never deny they are also a business and somethings are not possible, but they are always willing to listen to issues and try and compromise. -Good work life balance -They offer health benefits (More on this later) -RRSP Matching 5% with RBC -Optional Paid OT when required/approved They never force people to work OT they only offer it if wanted. And it's always paid. They strongly discourage working for free. -Amazing Colleges
Cons
The benefits package needs a rework, a spending account doesn't work for a lot of people and the traditional benefits offered half of them won't cover people with pre-existing conditions. Basically saying if an employee has a health problem then they have to suffer with no help. The start of productions can be a bit frustrating and confusing, do to lack of realistic expectations for how much staff and work is required. Usually gets sorted a few months in, but it's frustrating when it happens every single show.
