Pros
NIce office. Good location. Great co-workers.
Cons
A company just laid off +30% of its workforce. Nothing unusual there in today's market. What stood out was the timing: the CTO presented new growth directions and a major incoming partnership right before the weekend. On Monday, the CEO announced mass layoffs. Managers who conducted interviews a few days earlier were among those let go. New hires with 2 weeks in the company were too. VPs say they had no idea, while they were actively recruiting and got hiring targets. Deals get cancelled, that's business. But continuing to hire based on a deal that wasn't closed yet, without any plan for if it falls through, raises a real question about how much C-level decisions actually reach the people executing on them.
