Pros

Casual dress, growing company, benefits are good

Cons

Not much of an Engineer position, despite what you see in the name. To a CS/CE major, the majority of the work will not expand your skill set or challenge you a ton. Atmosphere is varied. One group of people might have less demanding work to do and decide to talk non-work related, while another group is putting out fires for a customer. Do you want to hear chit-chat and have nerf darts flying past you during something like that? Nerf fights are just 2 people shooting at each other until they realize they are annoying people nearby, it is not a fun team building activity.

Pros

The pay is decent for how easy the work is and the company is growing fast which leaves room for growth.

Cons

There will be many things you'll be told during the interview about the job then come to realize most were complete fabrications. They are cautiously ambiguous when describing pto. They offer 20 days but national holidays do not apply leaving the PTO package rather meager for a typical software related role. They target CS/CE majors but have no work beyond the skills of someone in CiS or general IT. The job leaves nothing to be desired and the work is unsatisfying.

Pros

The work environment is very pleasant; there's a casual dress code and flexible hours available for employees. Managers are typically very friendly and help acclimate new employees to the work required, starting with small projects and gradually moving up as they gain experience. Some travel is required as part of the job, about 3-4 times a year on average. This can change depending on the projects available. You get to visit some nice locations and overall the experience can be very enjoyable. If you are a full-time employee, you get a generous healthcare package and access to a nice retirement savings plan. HR gives great information about the compensation and benefits accessible. The business as a whole is growing fast and the quarterly meetings are full of new business deals made, improvements from last quarter, and more. It's clear that this business is doing well.

Cons

There is a severe lack of documentation on the proprietary software used here. The software has some online lessons on how to use it, but a large chunk is outdated and the software has changed quite a bit since the lessons were made. Managers can sometimes leave obtuse answers when it comes to simple yes/no technical questions or project requirements, causing further confusion. I got the impression from some managers that I was expected to already know the answer to the question I was asking, especially when it involved software I was unfamiliar with. This made me feel inadequate and frustrated with how things were going with some projects, due to unclear requirements and having limited documentation. I was ultimately discharged due to unsatisfactory performance, though what percentage was actually my fault was difficult to determine due to the above. Whenever I had meetings with my assigned manager, I wasn't given any warnings or feedback about my performance.
