    Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Coinbase.

    Interview

First got a triplebyte quiz challenge, 30-sh multiple choice related to back-end web development, about 1.5 minutes to answer each question. Then basic phone screen and lastly a video technical interview lasting an hour with an engineer involving 3 questions. Overall process took 2.5 weeks.

Interviewer and recruiter were very friendly and helpful, I particularly appreciated that the technical interviewer helped me along the way with syntax so I could focus on the code logic as opposed to correcting silly mistakes in syntax.

    Interview Questions

    • Given a piece of incorrect code and some failing test cases, debug and correct code.   Answer Question
    • Create a dictionary data structure using only a single array. Key and Values are strings.   1 Answer
    • Systems design question: how would you design the back end (table schema, api endpoints) for an e-commerce website.   Answer Question

Company Updates

  • Today, Coinbase announced that the future of the company is remote-first. This means that going forward, anyone who wants to can continue to work from an office. That won’t change. What is changing is that (almost) any employee who prefers to work outside of an office can. For many employees, it will probably be a mix of both. The employee experience should be the same, whether you’re in an office one day a week, five days a week, or never. After a period of WFH, we think remote work (or part in-office and part remote) are options that many people, including the top talent we’re focused on hiring, will come to expect from employers.
