I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at XTX Markets (Berlin) in Mar 2019
Interview
Instead of the originally planned interviewer I was talking to a substitute. The call was plagued by a terrible connection quality on his side. He essentially went through a catalogue of low level programming questions most of which I could answer at least conceptually. The entire style was very much interrogation style with no effort to make the candidate feel comfortable. I had to repeat myself again and again on details like concurrency issues and floating point numbers since he did not really put in even minimal effort to understand what I was saying. All in all the outcome is certainly not the result of inability. I believe this company seriously needs to improve their recruitment.
From what I read in other reports I am not the only one hit by such a strange interviewing style. Probably one has to get lucky not to be interviewed by one particular engineer to have a normal phone screen.

Question 1
many C++, hardware architecture and floating point minutiae.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at XTX Markets (London, England) in Mar 2019
Interview
Phone interview followed by coding task (for one evening), followed by conversation with their TL about the position, followed by another phone interview. Then they invited me to the office, where I had another 5 1:1 interviews, approximately 1 hour each. All of the interviews were technical.

Question 1
Great variety of questions, mainly focusing on high performance techniques (low-level stuff). Topics included:
1) Atomic data structures
2) System internals (for example, system calls overheads)
3) Modern C++ features (variadic templates, etc.)
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at XTX Markets (London, England)
Interview
Recruiter organized two phone calls with them. First interviewer was a nice person and got through to the next stage. After the second phone screen I got rejected. The whole process was quick, couple of days between the two calls.
I would like to point out the second interviewer arrogant style and unconstructive/negative feedback after the interview which made me feel quite humilated. I interviewed at many places before but I have never come across such an arrogant and inflexible attitude.
I would advise them the next time to send only a succint "Unfortunately we are not going to proceed forward." message instead of the belittling one which I received.
Overall the place left quite a bad impression on me and this interviewing style is not good for the company's image at all.

Question 1
Lots of random implementation details about various C++ standard library classes in an interrogative style. You either know these right away or you do not.
