I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Whole Foods Market (Somerville, MA) in Jan 2014
Interview
After applying, I received a call from the store within a few days. The process began with a phone screening. After this, there was a very standard interview with the store manager and the bakery manager. I was presented with some customer service scenarios and was asked how I would address them. I also recall general questions regarding personal strengths and weaknesses. Only one in-person round was needed. The entire process took less than a week, and I began paid training in no time.

Question 1
Imagine you're working at customer service and you receive a call from another store. You've been waiting for this call, so that you can discuss something important with a manager from the other store. At the same time, a customer approaches you and requires assistance. What do you do? Do you ask the customer to hold while you take the call, or do you deal with the customer first and call the manager backer later.
It was a pretty easy process. I applied online, and I believe I got an interview a week or 2 after. I got interviewed by the ATL and the TL, and they asked me questions about my experience.
Fairly easy. Just asked about schedule (what days you can work and if you have any vacations coming up) and if there was any prior experience. Didn’t ask very many difficult questions

Question 1
What days are you available to work? Any vacations coming up?
VERY quick. It was a phone interview and the manager just asked "Why Whole Foods?" I had an answer prepared and he almost cut me off after my first sentence. I don't think he actually cared about my answer.
