Initial interview with hiring manager went very well, we talked for 90 minutes even though the interview was scheduled for only 60 minutes.
They invited me back to meet with the hiring manager's boss, a VP of HR, and a recruiter. This is when things got messed up. The hiring manager's boss was obviously just stopping in in-between running from one meeting to the next. We chatted for 20 minutes max. I then had to wait 45 minutes as the VP of HR forgot that he was supposed to meet with me. What was supposed to be a 1 hour meeting turned into a 20 minute meeting. Lastly the recruiter met with me, for the first time. First thing he informed me was that the job was actually mis-classified and that it was a more junior position than was originally posted as (sounded like a power play as the real marketing recruiter was recently let go and this recruiter sitting in was the IT recruiter who knew nothing about marketing).
I was then notified about a week later by a form letter that I didn't get the position. When I asked for feedback, all I got was the generic "the other person was a better fit."
