I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Western Union in Sep 2017
Interview
Phone screen with recruiter. Got Manager interview a couple months later.
Interview went well he asked me to create user stories for improving app experience. Homework took a couple hours I sent it in. Never heard back. I followed up a couple days. Recruiter called me to say they decided not to go forward...they had never looked at the homework. I had used a bit.ly link and they never clicked on it.
They asked me to do an assignment and never even looked at it. Wasted my time and demonstrated they aren't a company I want to work with.

Interview
The process took about 3 weeks in total. It started with a short 20-minute screening call with a recruiter from HR, where they asked about my background, current role, and why I was interested in the position. After that, I had a 45-minute interview with the hiring manager (via Zoom), focusing on my past projects and how I handle remote teams. The third stage was a panel interview with two team leads and a stakeholder — they asked behavioral questions and gave a small case study about managing scope creep in a cross-functional project. No technical tests or presentations were required. Everything felt professional and straightforward, though the scheduling took some back-and-forth due to time zones. In the end, I received an offer within a week after the panel.

Question 1
One of the key questions was: "Tell me about a time when a project was falling behind schedule due to external dependencies or team issues. How did you recover it, and what was the outcome?"
I applied online. Next is scheduling an interview with an AI chatbot before having a call with a recruiter. Then it's a call with the hiring manager before separate interviews with future colleagues.

Really positive interview experience overall. The process was smooth and well organized - with none of the usual BS you see at a lot of companies. Every conversation felt thoughtful and engaging, the team was sharp, candid, and clearly passionate about what they’re building.
Huge shoutout to the recruiter, who was excellent throughout the process: communicative, transparent, and genuinely supportive (kind of sad I didn't join because she was so awesome).
While the timing didn’t end up aligning for me, Western Union left a great impression and I’d definitely consider future opportunities there.
