      Anonymous employee
      Toronto, ON
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Wealthsimple (Toronto, ON)

      Interview

Tough, but fair, and enjoyable processes. The process contained an initial application, HR screening, take-home case, in-person interviews (+ another case), and a final phone chat. Overall, everyone was super helpful, kind, and accommodating. Each round had a quick turnover time.

      Brokerage Operations Associate Interview

      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Wealthsimple (Toronto, ON) in Sep 2017

      Interview

Before the interview process officially started, I was offered to meet two employees for informal conversations over coffee. They were from different teams, and chatting with them helped me learn more about Wealthsimple and better understand the Client Success and Brokerage Operations teams. About a week later, I submitted applications to both teams and then had a 10 minute phone screening with an employee from Wealthsimple's recruiting team. She was very friendly and easy to talk to, and the conversation was casual. We talked about my past experiences, why I wanted to work at Wealthsimple, and what specifically attracted me to the Associate Relationship Manager (ARM) and Brokerage Operations Associate roles. She also helped me decide to pursue the Brokerage Operations Associate role with the chance to then consider the ARM after if Brokerage Operations ended up not being a good fit. A week later, I had an interview with one of the Brokerage Operations Managers. We went for a walk in Trinity Bellwoods Park, and the interview style was conversational. She told me first about her work experience before Wealthsimple and then about her current role and projects. A week later, I interviewed with the two other Brokerage Operations Managers. In all three interviews, the focus of the questions was for me to tell stories from my past experience. After the interview stage, I was asked to complete a take-home Excel assignment. It took about 4 - 6 hours, and the assignment had you analyze data, build a plan to improve a specific operations process, and design a UI feature to communicate the operations process' status to clients.
