      Senior Platform Engineer Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Walmart (San Mateo, CA) in Mar 2011

      Interview

I was contacted by HR very quickly after I applied this job online. HR, peer (in the hiring dept) phone interview, on site panel interview. The HR and peer interview on the phone went well. They seem polite and normal personnel. On site panel, I supposed to meet 3 developers and the manager. They changed the date and people list. Anyway, on site, the name on the interview list changed again. Guess they were busy. I don't want to sound ridiculous. But this company, at least this builder, makes me surprise. I wonder the idea of diversity... They ask basic questions, but tried to trap you to show that they are smarter than you. Do you ever care if you put try catch finally with other sequence try finally or catch? Well, after the guy explained, they would be same, no compilation error. I started to recall someone or I have tried this before. What is the deal here? Would this show me not intelligent if I wasn't sure? Finally manager came in, woops ..If previous developers demonstrated that 'smart' pattern/culture trend in this hiring group, at least they were polite. The manager was very direct and rude... Horrible. This dept, at least is combined with certain integrity. I know they don't like me. They expected people from their 'own' world, if you can get me. Anyway, don't waste time there.
