I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Walmart (Bentonville, AR) in Jun 2011
Interview
Their process is pretty bad when interviewing for a corporate position. 1st step was a phone interview (pretty standard). Then they offer to fly you out and put you in a hotel. They flew me out on a 7 a.m flight (mind you, you have to be at airport at least an hour in advance and it takes an hour for me to get to airport from my home) So, basically I had to be up at 3 a.m to make this interview. They reserve a rent-a-car for you (nice) but you have to drive in to town, check in to hotel then interview immediately afterward. I had asked to be flown out the day before but no dice. fyi- They send you a notice saying that a real estate agent will be showing you around town after the interview. I was interviewed by several people (I was totally exhausted) and was told that on business trips I would have to share a hotel room with unknown co-workers. "This saves money for the consumer". After the interview you are tortured further by a 3 hour tour of real estate by a real estate agent before you can free yourself and go back to your room. A stressful experience, to say the least. In the end, I couldn't wait to say goodbye to Bentonville, Arkansas.
The interview was easy and people I interviewed with were very kind. The interview was very conversational and enjoyable. We discussed employment background as well as skills and attributes important to do the job. I would absolutely recommend anyone interview with them.
It was a quiet and relaxed conversation, lasting around 30 minutes. Instead of focusing on skills or competency, the manager aimed to understand my personality, approach to work, and how I’d fit within the team dynamic.
