I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Walmart in Jul 2016
Interview
I applied June 8th, 2016 and didn't get a call until July 28th, so it surprised me when they actually called. I set up an interview July 29th and they only asked me 2 questions. After I answered them, I had to sign a few papers that went over the background check and drug check information, and they told me that if I passed the background check, I would have orientation next week. I didn't have a drug test even though I signed a paper saying I acknowledged that it was going to happen. I got a call later that day that I passed my background check. All in all, it is fairly simple to get the job once you get the call, so don't sweat the interview too much. I didn't even have any retail experience, so don't write yourself off quickly because of that. And patience is almost a must considering how long it took them to call me.
Explain a time where you went above and beyond to help a coworker, teach a coworker, work in a team, provide customer service, etc. (This was a broad question and could be taken in any way as long as you answer it well.)
Pretty easy. A lot of information up front that's hard to retain but everything you need to find is online. Pretty much always ends with an offer. Just be cool.
Online application and skill assessment, followed by an in person interview with a team lead. Assessment was a little vaguely worded at times, but it all seems like common sense if you've worked customer facing roles before.
Efficient interview process. Quick and easy interview. Hiring manager was approachable and easy to talk to. I was asked about my experience to determine if I would be a good fit.
