I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Walmart in May 2016
Interview
Had to do an online assessment consisting on multiple choice and strongly agree/disagree type questions. I got a call a couple days later and had a phone interview with the manager of the
department. They asked about availability and 2 situational type questions. She seemed in a hurry so it was about 5 minutes. At the end of the phone interview I was invited for a group interview. Was speed dating style with about 5 managers each asking 1-2 questions each. Fairly quick, was about 20 minutes. I was told if we were successful, we'd hear back within 24-48 h. Next day I received a call and was invited for a one on one interview with the store manager. He basically asked me a little about myself and I had to fill out background and reference forms. He told me I'd hear back if successful. 2.5 weeks later I got a phone call asking me to come in for an orientation. The whole process took about a month.

Question 1
What would you do if you were busy and a customer asked you where a product was?
Very quick and easy, just your typical average interview. Nothing really much else to be said but apparently that's that. It's an interview, not really anything else beyond that. Didn't feel any way about it, neutral.
Submitted online application then had one-on-one interview with the manager. Chatted about availability and food safety knowledge. Also was asked about customer service knowledge. Heard back from the manager within a few days.

Question 1
Do you have experience with a meat slicer or fryer?
It went well. Smooth not too hard. There were two people. They asked me simple questions. Generic interview questions. Its walmart. If you work hard they will appreciate it. Just takes a while to advance.
