This was truly the worst interview experience I've ever been through and as a Recruiter I'm embarrassed and disappointed. I was referred in by a current employee and someone I had worked with previously. I had a first round phone interview with a current Recruiter. The interviewer was late but things went well and I was given positive signals throughout, including being told I would be moving on to the next round of interviews. I did appropriate follow up thanking the interviewer for their time. I followed up again after a week to check in as I had not heard back. I still received no communication so I followed up again almost 2 weeks after my first interview and I was told I would not be moving forward all of the sudden. I responded and asked for some clarity on things and explained why I was asking for reconsideration given what had been previously communicated. The response was an "oops" and I was then scheduled with the Hiring Manager. That interview also went well with more positive signals throughout the interview as well as again being told I would be moving on to the next round of interviews. Anther week went by and I received an automated email telling me my APPLICATION had been rejected. Not even an email related to the correct stage if interviews that I was in. I followed up again and was given the excuse the the email had been sent in error but that I was still no longer being considered for the role. The proper process would have been a respectful phone call to give me the update and explain things, to which I would have respected their decision and been done with it. But I imagine they knew things had gone very bad and decided to take the easy route.
This type of process is the reason people across industries have a negative outlook on Recruiters and Recruiting. Being busy is not an excuse either. This is the job. I was told the new CHRO is a no-nonsense type of person and I really hope she gets on the ground level to fix this nonsense. Otherwise, Maxar is bound for a really bad place.
