In the later part of 2022, I had an interview for a remote customer service representative. I did a self-interview where you speak into a camera, and it records your answers. The next step was a zoom meeting with the hiring manager. I was very excited since I had a desire to work remote and had many years of health insurance experience. I received an offer as a “stand by”, and I thought what is this? It is exactly what is sounds like…. if someone drops out of the class you get a seat. I had to do the full background check and drug screen. All were clear. The days before the class was to begin, I reached out to HR and asked if anyone had dropped out and they said no, but someone could drop out on the day of the class. Well, that did not happen. What did happen was my unemployment stopped and I had to take the time to explain what occurred. Such unnecessary stress. I figured since I passed the background, I would be chosen for the next class. Not so. I was told I needed to reapply, and I could send application numbers to HR. I did have one scheduled zoom meeting, but I was ghosted. When I called to see what had happened, I was told they called me to advise they were having computer issues. That was a lie. I would have had a missed call. I let everyone know how unprofessional it was. In December of 2022, the hiring manager reached out and said she had a position and gave me the job number to apply. A week later, I got a no thank you letter from UHG. This is a large organization, and my opinion of this company will never be the same. This kind of unfair, discriminatory, and egregious behavior needs to stop. I can’t be the only person this has happened to. I had the managers email and phone number, and the person completely ignore me. There are other jobs out there, please don’t give up and let UHG go on with it’s ignorant interviews and toxic culture.
