      Flight Attendant Interview

      Mar 5, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at United Airlines (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2016

      Interview

I applied online. Less then a week later, I got an email inviting me to do a video interview. The questions asked online were mainly all posted on this site. I studied for a few days and had answers ready to most questions. I tried to be relaxed but I was a little nervous and seemed jittery. I just tried to be myself and not ramble too much and keep eye contact with the camera. As long as you have a customer service background and are a genuine person, you should have no problem at all. Maybe another week after the video I was invited for a final interview in person, with flights arranged by and paid for by united. On my flight I spoke to all the flight attendants and they were so excited for me and so helpful and friendly. They even gave me a box of snacks to take with me because they said ti would be a long day and I'd get hungry. On the day of my interview, I showed up about an hour early. On the way to the interviewing room (It took a while to actually get there from the airport, so plan accordingly, at least 30 mins) I met others who were also interviewing. In total there were 13 of us. After a short presentation on united and some questions and answers, they began the one on one interviews. I was the last to be called. I had an interview with a flight attendant who was so welcoming and made me feel very comfortable. She asked questions like if I was willing to move anywhere in the country, ready to be away from home all the time and things like that. She also asked specify questions on my past jobs and situations about them. We then did some role play and had me read a brief announcement and to pretend I had to ask someone to put away their laptop during a flight. She complemented me and made me feel very smart and made me think I was doing a great job. After, she asked me If i would meet with a senior recruiter. I was so pleased because after reading posts on this site, I knew that was a good sign. Not all of us were asked to stay. While waiting I made friends with all the others interviewing. We exchanged numbers and were all very encouraging of each other. I was 2nd to last for the 2nd part of the interview, waiting about an hour and a half. The senior recruiter was also so friendly, but was a little more pressing with his questions. He asked more about the details of how comfortable I was with moving, and asked exactly how I would do so, financially and with balancing out my personal affairs and school. I am still in college and graduate in 2 months, so he also asked that I was sure I was ok becoming a flight attendant after studying wildlife biology for the last 4 years. He wanted to stress that If I was offered a position, to start training as soon as possible. Since i'm still in school, I told him I would want to wait until I graduate in May to begin. They were accommodating and asked what dates I would prefer. He asked me to step out for a brief moment. When I came back in he and the other woman who was in the room started laughing. I asked what was so funny, being a little casual with them and laughing as well. They said I was, and they loved my personality. After giving me a few more compliments, they offered me a position and said I could start training after graduation. He said that by the time I showed up for training, I had to have the small tattoo behind my ear removed. If it isn't removed by training, I would be sent home. He couldn't see it because I had my hair down and make up on it, but I told him about it during the interview. He also told me to put my hair up to make me look more professional and to try to go unnoticed throughout my training and to not draw attention to myself. After that I was escorted to fill out paperwork and do a drug test. I have never been more excited to work for a company! Make sure to really go over the questions others have posted on this site, It really made the whole difference!!! Good luck out there!!

      Question 1

Name a time at work when a customer was complaining to you about something that wasn't your fault and how did you handle it? How have your previous jobs prepared you for this role? What is something you would change about yourself if you could? Are you really willing to live in any of our bases right after completion of training?

First, you have to apply it and submit your application on United website when the flight attendant opposition is opening. Then, you will get an assessment, kinda like a personality test. Second, you will be invited to a virtual interview. basically, you need to answer 8 questions and record your answers. You have 3 attempts to record it.
