      Flight Attendant Interview

      Jan 18, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Newark, NJ
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at United Airlines (Newark, NJ) in Jan 2016

      Interview

Applied online December 30, 2015. Received the email that they were reviewing my resume January 2, 2016. The next day I received the email to complete the video interview. I completed the video interview January 4, 2016. For the video interview dress like a flight attendant! Just because it's a video interview doesn't mean you should take it any less serious. I put on a white button down and a black blazer, tied my hair in a neat pony tail, wore red lipstick and classy makeup. Also, be sure to do the practice video questions! It really helps to see how you are answering the questions and get used to the awkwardness of video interviews. I probably did the practice questions ten times! On January 6 I received the invitation for a face to face interview! Very exciting. I called immediately to book my date and they set up the flight (you have to set up your own hotel though). My interview was January 13, so they flew my out the day before. On the day of the interview we sat at a gate with all of the other hopefuls. At exactly 9am the recruiters arrived and brought us down to the United offices. Be very poised and courteous. They are watching you from the moment they come by. Make sure you dress the part!!! There were some people who just worse anything they thought was cute and they didn't get picked. Wear a black or dark navy blazer, white bottom down, skirt or slacks, black tights for girls with small heels. Put your hair in a neat ponytail or bun of its longer than your shoulders...also red lips are nice on girls because it's a classic flight attendant look. Also smile the whole time and make conversation with the other interviewees. We sat in a room and watched a short presentation about the job and the requirements, then the recruiters individually called about half of the people in the room. You interview in a separate room that is divided by cubicles. The questions they ask are pretty much the ones here on Glassdoor. I'll try to list as many as I can remember below. They ask about 6 questions and ask about why you want this job. Remember to be sincere and smile! Always turn any negative into a positive. They want to see that you will try turn situations into a good outcome if you got the position. Be friendly! This is a customer service focused job! My recruiter then asked me to stay for a second interview. We sat in another room with a few others who made it through. The second interview was with two people and it was just more about getting to know me and why I want the position and reviewed some things on my resume. Again, they're judging you here too to see why you want the job and to see if you're actually flexible enough. Keep smiling! Then they stepped out for a second and when they came back they offered me the position. Greatest feeling! About 7 of us got picked out of 17 candidates that day.
