I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at United Airlines in Oct 2011
Interview
The hiring process was long and drawn out partly due to the many, many clearances and background checks which are needed. Part of this was due to miscues between United and its HR contractor. I had to be extremely proactive to keep the hiring process moving.
Once you are offered the job there is a lot of paperwork which must be faxed to various locations. You can't email the forms back. If you don't own a fax machine this can become very expensive.
I was not told during the hiring process that steel toed boots are required for the job and I would have to provide them on my own.

I applied in-person. I interviewed at United Airlines (Austin, TX) in Nov 2025
Interview
The interview process was shortened to four questions, as two questions asked the same thing but were worded differently. The two interviewers who were supposed to attend did not, so I was interviewed by one man who asked the questions and wrote down my answers about how my experiences could apply to the role.
