I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at UniFirst (Louisville, KY) in Sep 2013
Interview
Very long interview process (4-6 weeks) but necessary. Can be very similar to a typical sales process with an account. I was referred by a current employee (most people who work at the Louisville location are). Phone interview with sales manager followed by an in-person interview with sales manager. If they like you, next step is an in-person interview with branch manager. If he likes you and you successfully complete your cold call assignments, you are asked to typically do a half-day ride along with a current rep aduring regular business hours. If rep you ride with likes you and you perform a good sales presentation (some have to do the presentation in front of the entire sales team) you then move on to an interview with the plant manager and will most likely have to drive to Franklin, OH to interview with him in-person unless he happens to be in town. After all that, you interview with the regional sales manager by phone.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Lots of typical sales questions, multiple interviews, assignments, ride-along, presentation.
Very straight forward and transparent. The process was very convenient. Although, there was not much negotiation for what you could receive compensation wise. They are stuck with what they can offer for a Sales Representative.
I applied online. I interviewed at UniFirst in Aug 2024
Interview
Very relaxed atmosphere hiring manager was easy to talk to she was straight forward with job description explained in detail what the job would be hours and rate of pay did not touch how commission worked in detail or benefits ( health vision dental )
Setup interview for about a week out. Got several confirmation emails and texts. On the day and time of, received a call from the recruiter only to tell me "Well we have several other applicants on the line so I'm not going to interview you until they decide tomorrow. I'll let you know sometime tomorrow." EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL WAY TO HANDLE APPLICANTS. NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL. WON'T BE MOVING FORWARD.
