      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      Jun 12, 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Pleasanton, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at TriNet (Pleasanton, CA) in Mar 2016

      Interview

Recruiter called me and set up the phone screen. The manager had scheduled 30 min for interview and he took 1.5 hours browsing through my entire 15 years experience and asking questions about every project(its very hard to remember the project I worked 15 years back). The type of questions asked were not quality questions as well. I was called for onsite and had four people interview me. I was not impressed with their questions. The manager instead of paying attention to logic wanted me to be able to remember syntax. One person talked only about networking questions. I was not impressed with the technologies they used as well (latest technology - REST is what I was told). The employers forget that we interview them as much as they do. Did not contact them after the interview since I was not interested anyways.

      Anonymous interview candidate
      Montana, WI
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at TriNet (Montana, WI) in Jan 2025

      Interview

After initial recruiter screen there was a tech round concentrating on coding skills.. I was given 2 coding questions and both were executed with desired output.. The interviewer was a junior and was specifically looking for syntax rather than logic and clear lacks tech skills.. Trinet might loose good candidates if this is the process for further interviews

      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      Jan 24, 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Austin, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at TriNet (Austin, TX) in Jan 2016

      Interview

The interview process will take forever, a month or longer. It is also very disorganized - you can be offered an onsite interview and then never hear back from the company. Or they might ask you about your time availability, and then write the next day 2 hours before the interview, informing you that you have a skype interview in 2 hours. They seem to ask questions that test your industry knowledge, not how well you can program. Which would be fine, unless you are interviewing an entry position applicant, who only knows the later.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

1st Interview - 30 minute talk with simple design questions and the "tell me about yourself" questions. 2nd interview - tell me about RESTful services, if you have 2 Javascript Objects, how do you make them communicate (if a value changes in 1 object, how to notify the other object) 3rd interview - if you pass the other ones, you get an onsite. Don't know what happens, never went.

Thank you for your feedback. The path to employment at TriNet may be a lengthy one, but that is what it takes to find the most accomplished candidates we can, and our current employees appreciate that we try to bring in only the best people to accompany them on this journey. We strive to find the most accomplished candidates who will work best with our teams and therefore, it may take multiple rounds to complete the process, including screening, meeting several of our technology team members, as well as hands-on code evaluations. Thanks again for the review and we wish you the best in all your future endeavors.
