      Auto Damage Adjuster Trainee Interview

      Apr 25, 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Hartford, CT
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Travelers (Hartford, CT) in Apr 2022

      Interview

The interview process was extensive but well worth it. After applying for the position, I received an email within the week from talent acquisition to schedule a phone call for the following week. The conversation was enjoyable and the specialist was easy to speak to. Definitely questions about my resume, experience, and what I’ve learned. Be prepared for lots of behavioral/STAR questions (“tell me about a time when…”. After the phone call, I received an email from the management team the next day to schedule a Zoom interview with the management team the following week. The Zoom interview was also great, lots of STAR questions but the team was so friendly and easygoing. The group conversation was approximately 30-45 minutes. Then, I entered a break out room with a current Auto Damage Adjuster who walked me through the system as well as his daily schedule. Once we finished our conversation, I entered another breakout room with the Director. This was by far the easiest part- we talked about my work history, a little background about me, and why I want to work at Travelers. I received an offer three days later.

      Auto Damage Adjuster Trainee Interview

      Sep 28, 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Dallas, TX
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Travelers (Dallas, TX) in Aug 2017

      Interview

I had applied for AD Trainee. I submitted app and within a week received a phone call from an out of state recruiter. I put in a for a position that was about 5 hours from me (willing to relocate). I have no insurance experience but have a customer service background and insurance license so I did not have a deep phone interview. She went over salary and where to be for interview. Plan for 15-20 minutes to get parking and get into room where you need to be. They scheduled me out about a week from phone call for assessments. E-mail states they start at 8:30, they start at 8:30. All the applicants meet in one room and all of you go into testing at one time. If you’re not there when proctor pulls group, you’ve missed it. Testing lasts 4-5 hours. ***Letter Writing-This is the main test and the first one given, speaking to other candidates they had friends that were experienced adjusters and the letter X’d them. You have 15 minutes to write a letter to an angry customer that had a denial (I wish someone put this up here, would have helped me make it through). I missed this one. PRACTICE! *Math-Simple all basic calculator *Personality-choose 1-5 agree or disagree---go extreme, either you really agree or you disagree. Use neutral sparingly. *Listening-you hear recorded phone calls, write down as much as possible during calls, phone numbers, vehicles, address, street names, license plates, fax numbers, names, you’ll need it to answer questions. *Reading comprehension test *Sentence structure test-Is this a sentence, type stuff. I missed the first test and did not get to proceed to a hiring manager. Now the kicker is, the proctor knows you’ve failed but yes, you will continue going through all the testing, you will not know until the end. I had employee evaluations, employer reference letters (all ready for hiring manager) I prepped for interview, I incurred hotel costs, fuel costs, (In addition, I thought going out and getting license on my own would show some initiative) but one of those things…you fail a test, you do not pass go. No exceptions made. I've heard after this, you'll have 2 other rounds of in person interviews (same day) centered around STAR method. Only positive, in case you ever reapply to Travelers, you know what to expect. Proctor is apologetic about it but still hurts. Good luck!
