I interviewed at Sheppard Mullin (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
First 20 minute screener, then 2 hour call back with 2 partners and 2 associates. The same process as almost every other big law firm. My interviews were all online through the Flo recruit platform.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Basic Interview Questions, nothing crazy or weird. I did have an extremely open ended prompt and I was told what they wanted from a summer associate. I spent most of the interview just answering that question.

Interview
Screener -> 5 30-min interviews -> offer. I applied with a specific diversity statement in addition to a cover letter I tailored. All interviews were done via Zoom. Everyone was cordial. It wasn't difficult.
The interview was about 30 minutes. I was asking a few questions and asked my own questions afterwards. The interview was alright but they only hire summer associates in practice areas that need help. So if you say you’re interested in a particular area and they don’t need help, they won’t hire you because “they don’t want to waste our time.” This was weird because most firms encourage their summer associates to explore different areas before making a decision.
