I worked at Sheppard Mullin full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Working in the DTLA office, there were a lot of staff and partners who have been there for a long time, which I think adds a somewhat familial vibe. The workspace has had a fairly recent renovation, so there is a more open and airy feel in some parts of the office.

    Cons

Chipping away at benefits and passing off more costs to employees. Pay doesn't quite keep up with firms of the same size/reputation.

    Advice to Management

Improve pay and benefits-- without adding several more responsibilities to an individual's job description.

    Cons

Have to wait nearly three years for employer match $401k contributions.

Offer a more attractive benefits package to staff.

    Cons

Management is changing, which affects the associate culture, but DC attorneys do a good job of making it nice place to work.

Big law firm with mid-sized workload. Good benefits, management is dedicated to continuing education for staff at ALL levels. Workshops every week or two on anything from filing to HR management.

    Cons

Like any law firm, there are few individuals who are tough to work for
