This was truly the least professional interview I have had the displeasure of experiencing. I got onto the video call, the person interviewing me didn't bother introducing himself, he recited the instructions (and he informed me he had done this 250 or so times in addition to me), and then muted himself and turned off his web cam. The one time I asked a question, he unmuted to answer but I couldn't even hear him over the conference call he was fielding during my interview. After I completed the challenge, he didn't ever turn his web cam back on, and only gave feedback when solicited. Then it was over.
Furthermore, the format chosen for the pairing challenge was problematic. Hacker Rank's CodePair does not allow for running your code or testing your code as you write it. And it was buggy, often losing intellisense randomly. And the format the interviewer chose was: solve the presented problem all at once without having run the code a single time, and then when you say you're done, he will run his tests (and your code for the first time). Thus, entirely eliminating any iterative or test-driven approach that might be helpful, and completely not representative of what a developer would actually do when solving a problem.
If Service Titan continues to interview in this manner, you will be turning away quality candidates as they will not feel their time, energy, or individuality are respected or considered in the process.
