Fairly straightforward process with informal initial interview. I think halfway through it was clear we weren’t the right fit for each other and I almost wanted to call it out and wrap up sooner. This role has been open for a year and they are still seeking the “right fit”. A red flag and typical research/policy institutional inertia issues.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at SPUR (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2017
Interview
The review process was straightforward - I had an initial interview in person with a city director than follow up interview with the team director. There was some ambiguity however on the timeline for follow up and I waited a week or two afterwards to hear back.

Question 1
Tell me a bit about your past experience.
What excites you about our organizaiton?
Which policy area are you most interested in?
Two-stage interview process (both one-on-one) to discuss general qualifications, interest in the role, and awareness of regional context. The first interview was pretty normal and straightforward. The second was odd and somewhat unprofessional due to the interviewer's odd interview style, random questions, and disconcerting zoom background.
