      Manager Interview

      Feb 14, 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Redmond, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Pushpay (Redmond, WA) in Feb 2016

      Interview

The interview process was not a good experience. Full disclosure...I didn't think I was qualified for the job, nor do I believe I interviewed well. That being said, for my first phone interview, they were 30 minutes late. No notification, no apologies. I had to schedule time out of my work day to take the call and they show zero respect for my time. Finally, I was invited in for an interview. To their credit, they were open about their concerns for my managerial experience. So I go into Pushpay, and they were about 10 minutes late starting my interview. 2 people came in, and asked me what I applied for. I responded with Manager. They then wanted to know which type of Manager. I had to inform them that I never formally applied and the Recruiter asked me to come in and interview for a Manager position (in other words, they had no clue why I was there and I was expected to know what types of managers they had internally). I did research on the company, but I apologize if I don't know the internal dynamics of types of Managers. After they helped me narrow it down, one of the interviewers left, and was replaced by another, and essentially started the interview process from scratch. After about 10 minutes in, they asked me how nervous I was, and I was honest and let them know I was nervous, especially after how the interview started. He proceeded to stop the interview and offer harsh criticism. He informed me Salesforce experience was required and that I didn't have that requirement. Also, he told me that the people that I manage would have no respect for me because I can't get on the phone and lead by example. Also he informed me that I didn't know the ins and outs of the product and my ramp up time would take too long. So my feedback to Pushpay is this... 1. After being in the room with me for 10 minutes, you don't know anything about me to offer any kind of criticism, positive or negative. 2. If Salesforce experience is a deal breaker, might I suggest explicitly addressing that in the screening process? 3. Have more respect for people's time. You showed a complete lack of respect for mine. 4. I manage a team at a company FAR larger than you, selling a product that is very complicated. I get on phones all day. Ask those questions rather than assume.
