The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Principal Financial Group (Charlotte, NC) in Jul 2024
Interview
Quick and fairly painless interview process. Applied online, got an email the next day, set up a recruiter call that week, then a technical interview the following week. Got an offer the next day.
The technical was with 3 developers and a solutions manager. They asked generic behavior / experience questions. The technical was fairly straightforward, reading data from a file and organizing based on points / reviews.
Unfortunately the pay offered is very low. While the position I interviewed for was mid-level, I was told that the average rate for their senior positions is 107k (again, quite low for a senior engineer role). Their rationale for this is that they offer good benefits, and while they are pretty good, requiring in-office work (when none of your team is in office) and paying well below standard rates for position / experience holds this opportunity back from being appealing.

Interview
The interview process started with a phone interview, during which we discussed the company, the job location, and my resume. This was followed by a technical interview, which included a mix of behavioral questions and technical assessments.
