I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Parloa (New York, NY) in May 2026
Interview
The interview process is as described on the job description. TA Screen -> Hiring Manager Call -> Technical Interview -> Bar Raiser.
As an engineer, this is a format that is very familiar. If you prepare for STAR format behavioral and System Design, you will be adequately prepared. One caveat, there is AI assisted coding as part of the technical. Its a new thing in the industry, and I was admittedly confused as to the signal to give.
Overall, I did well. My recruiter shared that I got good feedback from the Hiring Manager Call and the Technical Interview.
Unfortunately, my candidacy was derailed by the Bar Raiser with the VP. It ultimately can down to "not showing enthusiasm" and "not asking deep questions".
Mind you, the first interview with the VP she no showed. I was on the call for 10 minutes before my recruiter appeared on the call to informed me she was in a meeting with the CEO.
I was understanding, and quickly rescheduled. To my dismay, she was late again to the second interview due to obligations to the CEO. Was I a little perturbed and annoyed? Yes. Given the circumstances I gave it my best.
In the end, in my opinion, it all came down to vibes. I should have been more "stoked" for the opportunity to talk to Parloa despite the tardiness and the no-show because the CEO comes first.

Interview
Headhunter reached out. Standard process for today's standards - live coding, architecture, present a project, bar raiser/"cultural fit".
They're letting you code/build simplified versions of their product, I liked it.
Their interviewers are quite bad at selling the company. You basically get the feeling that they're just in a very competitive field and have to do everything to win on the enterprise market. Quite hard to convince yourself this is the place to be.
Got ghosted after going through the entire process, classic, just disrespectful and unneccessary. I see it as a dodged bullet, I suspect their org is still super messy that it wouldn't be that enjoyable anyways given the pressure they now get through the valuation.
