I sent my resume over to the in house recruiter and was called in less than an hour to discuss my credentials. After a brief conversation the recruiter wanted to set up a face to face with their management team. I wanted to ask more questions about the opportunity and felt amazingly rushed as the recruiter just wanted me to speak to mgmt team because he said I was a great fit and didnt want me to bore me with things I already knew.. I told the recruiter about my background as I was somewhat of a troubled late teenager that had a criminal past. Let me say again Past.... It was over 9 yrs ago and they told me dont worry about it as long as it is non violent or any type of heinous crime. I've been working making six figures the last 8 yrs for 2 different companies and work hard and smart as I have been extremely successful in sales. Neither one of previous companies denied me a chance cause I explained to them I made mistakes many yrs ago and learned my lessons in life and became a great employee. I end up wasting time because they did not hire me because of a criminal background from over 9 yrs ago with a receiving stolen property charge. (It was a computer worth under $1,000) & failure to make required disposition of funds. I explained to them it was my past and not proud of what I did but I learned my lesson. The staff said that I was better than a perfect fit with my book of business and letters of recommendations but they did not want to take a chance. Originally because I was asking for much more money than they expected I thought they didnt want to hire me. I even said I would work as a contractor and get bonded and insured if needed and they said that would not be necessary. Ultimately it was a loss for them because being a spiritual person I learned ppl may say they are forgiving but they ate not.
