I had such a weird experience with this company. HR told me I was a highly prized fit and would get the hiring manager interview (given this is a new function for their organization and I'm one of the few people in WA that developed this exact function at my last startup), but then the hiring manager went on vacation to Italy for 3 weeks. HR said they would absolutely get back to me the next day prior to his vacation with defined steps, then didn’t, and didn’t respond to any email follow up essentially going cold.
I followed up 3x over the following weeks. Last message was basically me telling them I was crossing them off my list in lieu of other opportunities and found their conduct unprofessional given the clear expectation that was set.
Finally, a MONTH after originally talking, the recruiter got back to me with a super long essay apologizing profusely for her big mistake.
Apparently I had been misplaced by “the system” into the “wrong bucket”, and so my email responses were still classified as a prospect instead of a candidate and thus de-prioritized to the bottom of her massive list. She assured me I was still a top candidate and that she’d re-classify the buckets properly, and wouldn’t stop apologizing. Frankly it was to the point where it felt like perhaps it wasn't an actual database "system" issue. . .
Lo and behold it’s been an entire month from then, and I still haven’t heard back. Only sent one follow up email this time (not going to waste my time) and it went unanswered. Seems like they need to get their recruiting pipeline in check, the sloppiness really doesn’t reflect well on the company and makes it feel like the whole organization operates haphazardly.
