      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Old Navy in Mar 2012

      Interview

(Note: Interview was yesterday morning, but I'm pretty sure I'm not getting the job) I read the other posts here and felt pretty confident before getting to the interview. I'd say it lasted about half an hour. All of the interviews were conducted on the sales floor, and I was taken into the Children's section. The interviewer asked me about myself first; whether I consider myself a "successful" person, etc. I didn't want to digress at any point, so I just said the most relevant things to the Logistics Associate position. I said I was neat and brought up the whole "good attention to detail" thing. So, she asked me how many mistakes I could notice in the product displays around us and then asked me what I would start working on if I was thrown into that section without any instructions and how I would manage if there were clients. I felt kind of trapped, because I didn't want to insinuate that their employees weren't doing a good job, but, whatever...I guess that's why they're interviewing in the first place. She asked me about working in groups, most recent work experience, about my personal style (for which I gave a terrible answer), what I thought the trends would be next season (study the website, guys!!!), who I thought their biggest competitors are... One of the first questions was actually their date of establishment. I do not how I got that right...(1994). I got asked about best and worst customer experiences, and I went blank for a moment. The hardest part was at the end, when she handed me an Old Navy Card brochure and left me alone for a while to study it. Then I had to "sell" it to her, pretending that we were at the cash register. I really sucked at it. So nervous. Anyways...I'm surprised at how many questions there actually were. I recommend that you over-prepare, and think of customer experience stories, describing your personal style and inform yourself about the store. I already knew this and my interviewer told me this herself as well, but you should know that Gap and Banana Republic belong to the same chain as Old Navy, as well as the online stores Piperlime and Athleta, so DON'T mention Gap as one of ON's competitors! Good luck!

      Interview

Interviewing consisted of two parts - a group interview followed by a one-on-one interview. The group interview was a bit out of the box, as we were asked to bring in a special item that could metaphorically represent us. Overall, both interviews were pretty simple.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      - Find an article of clothing which demonstrates a trend and describe its benefits as if you are "selling" it to a customer. - Can you describe a major mistake you made and what you learned from it?

      Interview

I applied online and about a week later I received a call from one of the managers. She just asked me some questions like "tell me about yourself", what are you passionate about? and why Old Navy. After that she gave me a time and day for a group interview, or audition as they call it, the following week and asked that I bring in an item that represents me whether it be a picture or whatever. I was the first to show up and it was 4 of us (2 people didnt show up). It was actually fun and different then what I'm use to. She told us about the company and then asked what we know about them. I did my research and said that Old Navy opened it's first store in 1994. A girl asked if Old Navy was part of Gap Inc. It's ok if you don't know but please do your research so you don't sound clueless. We then did a little trivia game where we answered questions like how many pairs of flip flops we think the company sold in one day and then we showed off our items that we brought. After all of that she took us out and showed us around the store and we partnered up to play out scenarios. I was the sales associate and the girl I was with was the customer and ours was spring break and she just wanted to see how we would interact with customers and ask open ended questions and try to build up on the sale. We then explained our outfits and that was pretty much it. We scheduled for a final interview, the whole process took an hour. For the last interview, the questions were more logistics based and I met the merchandising leader. They asked me about my experience and the process of the shipment there and asked me "tell me about a time where you went above and beyond for a customer" and "tell me a time where your strengths helped you in a situation." After that she said she would call me to say yes or no, she called and I got the job!

      Interview

I got a call after I filled out an application online, for a phone interview setup. When I got done with the phone interview, the hiring manager said she would call me to set up a group interview. Once the group interview was done with 3 other people, she scheduled all of us a 1 on 1 interview. After the 1 on 1 interview, she said she would call either later on today or the next day. She called 2 days later and offered me the job. The whole process took about 3 weeks.
