      Operations Specialist Interview

      Oct 14, 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Saint Louis, MO
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual (Saint Louis, MO) in May 2024

      Interview

The interview was extremely unprofessional and insulting. Conducted via zoom. No real discussion of my qualifications for a job that required effectively nothing to begin with. Honestly kind of unbelievable.

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual (Tuscaloosa, AL) in Jul 2024

      Interview

While the people I met were nice, the entire process was disjointed. The process began with a Zoom call with the office principal/CEO. It was more or less a PowerPoint presentation on the company, the office, its employees, et al. There were some interview questions, but I seemed to ask more questions than the CEO of this office. It ended with me being invited to the office for an interview. Someone would give me the address and specifics for the day. A couple days passed and no one ever got back to me, so I reached out. The person who was supposed to be my point of contact had no idea that I had been invited to the office. I asked some questions and they tried to answer them the best they could. On the day they proved not the best. I was told there was no assigned parking, but there were. I was told there was an office sign, but it was handwritten on a piece of paper and taped to the sign for the other tenant with whom they shared a reception. I was told that the office had a strict professional dress code. The receptionist was wearing an unbuttoned polo shirt, cargo shorts, and flip-flops. Only the CEO was dressed in what I would consider strict professional. Everyone was dressed nicely, but I felt overdressed comparatively. The receptionist could not point me out to the person who came to bring me into the office. There were three people in the waiting room and my picture was in my e-mail signature. I was told the meeting would two hours. It was a short 30 minute PowerPoint presentation and I was shown the door. I was told that there would be a second Zoom call with other staff members and I was a top choice. Despite trying to set up the Zoom call numerous times, I did not hear back from anyone for 2 months. By that time, I had already interviewed and been hired by one of their smaller competitors at a higher salary than they offered.
