I interviewed with the hiring manager via telephone after an email screening from the recruiter. The interview started well enough; however, about 20 minutes in I discovered that I was not being interviewed for the remote Senior Principal Tech Writer position for which I had applied (and about which I had corresponded with HR for three weeks) but instead for an on-site Principal Tech Writer position. Because that position would have required relocation (and was a lower level of seniority), I would never have applied in the first place.
