      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at NetApp (Bengaluru) in May 2010

      Interview

A friend's friend referred me for this position for a java developer. I got a call within a week from the recruiter and she asked me to come for interviews following saturday. There were four rounds of interviews out of which 2 were very technical and the rest two were managers and they didn't ask too many technical questions, more of behavioral. First interview: 30 min This was a techie guy an engineer like me but with lot more experience, he asked me a lot of java questions from basic strings to multithreading, all good core java questions, I answered most of them. He looked pretty satisfied. he also asked me to write a few programs which I did. Second interview: 15 min This guy was another dev team's lead, he asked me questions on databases/sql and basic data structures, linked lists and a bit about trees. He didn't seem too interested in taking the interview :P He asked me about my current job and stuff as well. Third interview: 15 min This guy was the program manager and asked me about my current job, projects and general questions. e asked me if I am ready to work in perl as well. he asked some other general question and then asked me to solve a puzzles, I too some time but he was finally happy with it. Fourth interview: 20 min This one was with the senior manager, he is a nice chap, he asked me a lot of behavioral questions. He asked me about school, college, projects etc Nothing technical. After the last interview I was asked to leave for the day. Same evening the HR sent me an email asking me about my pay slips and other documents. On the following Thursday i got a call from HR that i have telephonic interview with the team in US and they will send me the details via email. 5th interview: 45 min There were two guys on the call, i work with both of them now :) They asked me hell lot of questions, from Networking,Operationg systems, java and data structures. They put a lot of pressure on me if I couldn't answer even one. I was not happy about this interview as I could only manage to answer half of the stuff. After two days i got a call from the HR telling me that they want to make and offer and he will be sending me an email with the offer intent. I was surprised and happy. They made a good offer, I got around 40% hike from my prev job and also a number of Restricted stock units. I accepted and joined in a month.
