Applied online, a few days later got screened by HR over the phone. Went through the interview process, which included 1 more phone interview, 4 in person interviews, a writing/editing/oral presentation and a reference check. So to me, that is about 6 interviews and a writing/oral test. During this process, I got a job offer elsewhere and let HR know. The staff on separate occasions tried to find out which companies were offering me, but I didn't think it was there business and insisted NBC was the preferred choice. I mentioned that I'd like to have a deadline set on anything if I was selected, and they agreed. The first deadline was missed on a Friday, and it was mentioned that over the weekend theyd think and have a decision for Monday morning. 9 am on Monday, they still had not made a decision...but asked for my references (which I had an hour to alert and prepare). 3 references responded in time, which the director then used to do a FOLLOW UP reference check. Monday passed with no offer. I checked in a few days later to no response, but I got an email the next week saying I wasnt selected. It was a very unprofessional process - for them on missing deadlines, being indecisive with additional interviews every few days and having me prepare my references on such short notice. I also did them what I thought was a favor in delaying my response to the job offer that I received.
