      Customer Success Manager Interview

      Apr 1, 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

      Interview

The interview with the HR/Talent team was extremely unprofessional. The interviewer was on a treadmill, which made it difficult to understand her questions and gave the impression that she was not fully engaged or knowledgeable about the process. This approach undermines the seriousness of the interview and suggests a lack of professionalism in candidate screening. If the team cannot conduct interviews in a professional manner, it raises concerns about their ability to select suitable candidates.

I applied online. I interviewed at Motion in Mar 2026

      Interview

I submitted the Loom and application and heard back quickly. I actually had a lovely experience with the recruiter that I spoke with. She was professional, bubbly, communicative, and great vibes. I moved on to the team lead interview and I didn't enjoy that one. She was friendly but had terrible, vague questions that were difficult to answer and didn't seem thought out beforehand. They weren't targeted or specific at all. I got feedback that my answers were too vague, which made sense because the questions were very poor and difficult to answer.

      Difficult interview

      Interview

Giving a "very difficult" rating not for interview content, but because their process is just a dice roll. I will say, my initial call with the recruiter was pleasant, professional, insightful. Good questions were asked and it felt respectful and relevant. Not so much for the second round. Interviewer joined the call late, immediately let me know they were in a hurry to wrap up, had no idea that I was already a CSM (asked me about transitioning to this role... ??? I have 10 years experience), clearly didn't read my resume or supplemental materials (extra bummer as they require a "creative" video intro and it's obvious they don't look at them), didn't read any notes from the recruiter so it felt like a completely random new conversation, took up half the interview asking me if I had questions (??? You're leading this?), and didn't really ask anything of substance so there were very few opportunities to showcase my skills and research in that 30, now 15, minute window. And yes, like others have mentioned, I then promptly received an email that I wasn't a "hell yes"... whatever that means. Really poor conduct for interviewing candidates and reflective of an unprofessional culture overall. ETA: Found it super funny that their people are reposting this role now and sharing it enthusiastically across their socials. Were the hundreds of candidates that already sent in applications not enough? That speaks more to the hiring team than candidacy if you're asking for more applicants while annoying jobseekers enough that they're all roasting you on Glassdoor.

      Question 1

"Will you miss being creative?" -- wut? I explained I have a background in creative analytics, but am a CSM. They seemed to take this as a negative. Again, wut? You could definitely tell they had zero prepared questions.
