I applied through university. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at MathWorks (Cambridge, England) in May 2021
Interview
I applied to the Cambridge, UK EDG program. The process had six stages in total and lasted just over two months. I made it to the final stage but was unfortunately rejected at the end.
(1) HireVue virtual interview: 3 Questions, all behavioural. You are asked a question and then have a couple of minutes to give a response.
(2) HackerRank OA: Consisted of three sections, and you could choose to complete two out of the three. These sections were: math questions section, coding questions and a Matlab multiple-choice portion. I did all three as I thought my programming section had gone wrong.
(3) Technical Interview: If you pass the OA, they then set up a technical interview with an EDG member. Here they run through your resume, asking about your projects and experiences. They then ask about how you went about the coding portion of your OA from the last round. They then build upon the OA coding questions and ask related programming questions. Finally, the interview finishes up with some OOP concept questions and a couple of math questions.
(4) Phone Interview with an EDG manager: 30-minute call with an EDG manager where they ask about your resume, experiences and a few behavioural questions.
(5) HR interview: Another short call, this time with a member of the HR team. They will ask some standard behavioural questions (e.g. why MathWorks, why the EDG program, etc.) and then talk about what the company could potentially offer you if you are successful in being chosen.
(6) Final Round - Virtual Onsite afternoon: Before Covid, we would have completed this round in person; however, since that was not possible, I completed it virtually. This round consists of a technical interview with two EDG members. A more extended HR interview and a longer interview with a manager from the EDG department. In total, the three interviews lasted for four hours, including the short breaks in between. The technical interview was a close examination of everything technical you have claimed to know on your cv. For me, that consisted of explaining one of my projects in detail, questions about machine learning, then a coding question. After that, questions on algorithm and data structures, and then finally some Maths questions. The other two interviews that followed focussed more on behavioural questions where they tried to understand me as a person and whether I would be a right fit for the company.

I applied online. I interviewed at MathWorks (Massachusetts Avenue Heights)
Interview
Phone interview with the hiring manager, phone call with internal recruiter, phone interview with team member, virtual interview presentation (with prep call and feedback from hiring manager) followed by 5 one-on-one virtual interviews.
I applied online. I interviewed at MathWorks (Natick, MA)
Interview
The interviewers were very helpful and did not seem intimidating at all. First there is a phone call with the manager where they just ask you what you want to do if you join mathworks. Then theres the technical interview. Another manager round and finally the HR round.
They asked a low-level design question. There were two interviewers. One was just there to oversee and the other was a member of the EDG group who joined ~2 years ago.
