      Senior Content Marketing Manager Interview

      Dec 20, 2022

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Litmus in Dec 2022

      Interview

Applied online and was contacted a month later (!) by Litmus. Passed the phone screen and interviewed with two team members for the second round. After going through the interview, I got a rejection email the next business day (that seemed generic and possibly copied and pasted) that explicitly said they would not be providing feedback on why I wasn't moving forward, but to know that it had nothing to do with my skills or background. I don't know if that was supposed to be comforting, but that would imply that I was fit for the role but that the interviewers didn't like me personally for some reason. Which is odd, given that we had a really good conversation where we were making each other laugh and they told me I was asking great questions and could relate to the things I was discussing. But because they refused to provide any clarity on their decision, I'm left in the dark not knowing what went wrong when everything seemed to be going right. If you take a candidate past the phone screen, you need to give them personalized feedback if they don't make it through to the next rounds. At that point you're not rejecting en masse, you're rejecting someone who's taken time out of their life (hours depending on how far along they got) to talk to your team and maybe even do a project. They're going to want to know why they didn't move forward when they made it to the point where they were talking with team members, and they deserve that feedback so they can learn from it and apply it to their future applications with other companies. Don't ask candidates to take time out of their lives for you when you can't do the same in return. Straight up telling candidates that you won't be providing feedback on their rejection after they've gone beyond recruiter phone screens is tacky, lazy, and unprofessional, and speaks volumes about how this organization likely views their employees — as expendable.
