      Senior IT Advisor Interview

      Nov 3, 2010
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Dallas, TX
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at KPMG (Dallas, TX) in Oct 2010

      Interview

PROCESS Interview consists of a Phone Screen, In person interview, and then an interview with a partner. In person Interview questions are 90% behavioral based with a few questions regarding your past experience and are conducted in a sequential panel in the following order: Sr.Manager, Experienced Advisory manager, Less Experienced Advisory Manager. Each panel interview lasts for approx 30 min, and the interviewers ask pre-formatted questions taking a few minutes to consult with the next interviewer into the room. GENERAL OPINION-INFO Interviewers are very approachable, intelligent, and friendly while maintaining a 0% intimidation factor. Expect to get vague descriptions of the scope of current projects and the contributions you will be expected to make. IT consultancy is well outside KPMGs core competency. COMMON QUESTIONS Common question asked repeatedly by all 3 panel interviews why you want to work for KPMG. Describe a situation where you had a problem with a co-worker and how it was resolved? How do you motivate people? Tell me about a process that you implemented that improved revenue for your company? How do you learn things? How would you explain to a customer that they may be wrong? ADVICE Do your homework on KPMG and why you want to be there. Prepare to answer questions that are constructed to measure you behavioral response. Dress very professionally. Have some intelligent questions prepared for them when they ask if you have any questions. If interviewing for an IT Advisory role DO NOT sell any of your tech skills unless asked for details, as Sr level managers are completely non technical (and will tell you plainly, surprising for people who do IT consulting). Expect to get vague descriptions of the scope of current projects and the contributions you will be expected to make.
