I applied through a referral, which made the process easier but it was still very long and drawn out. I had one phone call and then an interview, after which I received an offer for the internship.

First half of interview was with a manager about behavioural questions and second half with partner who gave a scenario and left the second half open for a conversation about the firm.

The interviewers were kind and genuinely interested in who I was. They cared about my path and career choices and ultimately left the decision up to me when deciding between firms to intern for, while maintain a good relationship with me.
