I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Insomniac Games (Durham, NC) in Jun 2016
Interview
After applying, they sent me a simple programming test, which I completed and returned. They then asked me to schedule a phone interview with some basic questions about my game design ideology (specifically when it comes to game balance) as well as some simple 3D math questions. They then asked me for some additional code samples before sending me a very nice email thanking me for everything but stating that there were other candidates with better credentials.

Interview
I applied in October, but didn't hear anything back until January. However, once I heard back from the recruiter, the process was very quick. I had a take-home programming test (untimed), and once I submitted that, multiple panel interviews. I received an offer the week after my final interview.

No call at the beginning. The first step was to do a coding test in C++ which was a take home test. This was a customized question which you wouldn't exactly find on google
