      Customer Success Manager Interview

      Jun 18, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Cambridge, MA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Cambridge, MA) in Apr 2018

      Interview

I met with 4 managers and a hiring manager separately. They asked thoughtful questions but one manager was very late to the interview and was clearly a bit flustered. The process itself took over an hour and a half and required an assignment to be completed. I was confident throughout the interviews and felt as though my experience shined through in my answers. The reason why my experience is neutral is because when I got a call from the recruiter letting me know I was not getting the position the only feedback they were able to give me was that I did not make enough eye contact. I do not struggle with making eye contact at all and felt this was not a genuine reason for me being passed up for the role. I knew when I applied I could have been a bit over qualified and had more experience than the hiring manager but I had an internal referral and have heard good things. I felt it would have made them look better if they gave me NO feedback instead of picking a random piece of feedback off a list when I am confident I don't struggle int that area in the slightest. They put a bad taste in my mouth and instead of keeping me interested based on the interview experience I will not be applying again.

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to write a review and for investing so much time in the interview process with us. It sounds like we definitely let you down in the feedback department, and for that I'm extremely sorry - if you're open to it, I'd love to look into your application to see if there are other pieces of feedback that might be helpful from a development perspective. Feel free to email me at beckym at hubspot dot com and I'll personally look into it. I'm sorry we didn't deliver on our commitment to giving you thoughtful feedback here. Becky
