I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Cambridge, MA) in Aug 2018
Interview
It was an awesome journey. I applied for the position through my colleague's referral, and got a phone call from the recruiter couple days later. The whole process included 3 different sets of interviews: 1. Phone screening with the recruiter 2. Tech demo/video interview with the team's manager 3. Onsite individual interviews with 3 hiring managers
Very impressed with the way recruiter and hiring managers provided in-depth insight on the process & the team I was applying for. Job process is definitely one of the most stressful tasks people have to go through in their lives, so it is easy for anyone to mess up or not show their full potential to the hiring managers. However, HubSpot's team made me feel comfortable and confident so I could have successful interviews.
Definitely be prepared though, just because they are nice to you doesn't mean the process is a piece of cake. Study what the company is all about, and why the company/the position you are applying for is relevant to you. Know yourself, jot down some events/incidents that would show your competencies. The recruiters will help you through the process, they will give you feedback on the interviews and what you need to focus on to succeed in next steps. As long as you keep those in mind, you will do a great job!!! Oh, make sure to show up to the interview with questions to ask :)

Could you tell me about a time when you had to deal with ambiguous tasks?
Thanks so much for the review! So glad you got such a wealth of information during your process and that your recruiters supported you every step of the way. GREAT tip to come with questions - we always leave time at the end of interviews to ask so it's best to be prepared! So glad you decided to join us, welcome to HubSpot! -Becky

The hiring process consists of an initial HR interview to assess cultural fit, followed by a technical interview to evaluate skills, and concludes with three separate one-on-one interviews with different managers expecting STAR responses.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time you had conflict with a coworker or colleague, and how did you overcome it?
It is a 5 step interview process, with the 1st one being a phone screening, then a video call/interactive assignment, and then finally three 30 minute back to back interviews for the 3rd and final round.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot in Apr 2026
Interview
Three rounds:
-Screening with recruiter
-Technical (live troubleshooting with a manager)
-Behavioral (3-30 minute interviews with managers)
The recruiter offers prep sessions before the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Take advantage of them as they’ll explicitly walk you through how to prepare.
