I applied online. I interviewed at HitFox Group (London, England) in Jul 2017
Interview
I applied online and was immediately invited for a phone interview (literally the next day). I had a phone interview with part of the HR team and it was one of the most interesting initial phone interviews I've ever had. Completely exploring personality, motivation and likes, rather than box checking. Friendly and relaxing.
I was then pretty swiftly invited for the next round, which was a phone interview with a senior part of the team for the role. Again, friendly and this time explored the more technical aspects of the role in more depth as well as personality fit.
At this stage, I'd normally then be invited for an in person interview but due to constraints and the fact I live outside of Germany, I had a phone interview with the hiring manager. Much shorter, similar questions on motivation and background.
Final interview in person with two very senior members of the Hitfox team over a lunch. Again, not typical but due to constraints this worked out best. Very interesting chat going into a lot of depth on the technical aspects and my background. I would only say interviewing whilst eating is a little off-putting, but it couldn't be helped.
Overall, thoroughly enjoyed the process. Very responsive, warm and thorough.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
If I had a large sum of money (can't remember exactly, maybe 100m+) and could invest it anywhere with certainty of the investment succeeding, where would I put it?
The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at HitFox Group (Berlin)
Interview
Quick application and quick feedback. Motivational stuff in discussion.
Negative: job was taken prior to call - it came up after raising the question why position not available on website ... this should have been mentioned before starting a conversation. Unless you want to chit chat for a while :) If you want to hunt for talent for other positions do so in accordance with the applicant - it's just a matter of respect.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at HitFox Group (Berlin) in Jan 2014
Interview
Very easy, I was referred internally through a shared network. Hitfox is a very relationships based process, if you know the right people, you are already 70% getting the job opportunity. They follow up with an in person interview with the relevant leadership team, you meet HR and they mainly close the deal with the salary discussion, so if you name a number too low, they doubt your credibility, if you go too high, they might question the investment but if you go mid-range and have a referral from someone that has influence over internal decision makes, the ink is verbally dry. They might take their time a bit just so you felt it was an honor to receive an offer due to their selective talent process. Their HR engagement is very spray and pray method then hire and fire if all goes terribly wrong.
