I applied through university. I interviewed at Goldman Sachs (New York, NY) in Feb 2013
Interview
First interview was on campus and completely behavioral. Two-on-one. Then a week later was invited to superday in NYC. Got there at 8am, then was shipped on the ferry to the headquarters in Jersey City. Was interviewed by 6 people there, each one on one, from two different groups, Enterprise Architecture and Operations Technology; completely behavioral questions. Nice and respectful interviewers. Well coordinated and on time. Then went back to NYC headquarters for two more interviews from the Banking Technology unity, each two on one and completely technical questions. No writing code, however.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why does Java run on any machine while C++ does not.
The process started with an online HackerRank assessment focused on mathematics and programming. The test included quantitative problem-solving questions (probability, logic, and numerical reasoning) as well as coding exercises. The programming section required writing efficient and clean solutions, with attention to time and space complexity.
After passing the assessment, I was invited to complete a HireVue interview. This consisted of recorded behavioral and motivational questions. The questions focused on teamwork, problem-solving experiences, interest in technology within finance, and alignment with Goldman Sachs’ values. Overall, the process was structured and technically oriented, with a strong emphasis on both analytical skills and communication.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Goldman Sachs in Oct 2025
Interview
Pretty smooth. OA, Hirevue, Superday consisting of 2 technical rounds (1 LC easy/med, 1 LC hard) and a system design question. After this process I got a phone call in exactly 2 weeks!
