      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at GitHub (San Francisco, CA) in Sep 2019

      Interview

After applying, I heard back from a recruiter within a month. The entire process after that was about 2 months long. An email from a recruiter with a writing assignment A phone call with a recruiter A Zoom call with a hiring manager A Zoom call with a "hubber" A Zoom call with 2 more "hubbers" After that, I got a more formal schedule from recruiters with a break down on what each call would cover. Another Zoom call with 2 people. A Zoom call about Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity. A Zoom call that should have been 2 people, but only 1 showed. Finally, a Zoom call with a different hiring manager and then a final wrap up with a recruiter. Here's where things got a little interesting. It was a long process and I got some really positive signals. I was told they would have an answer by the end of the week, which turned to the following week, which turned to another week, which turned to me reaching out twice for an update. I didn't get an offer, but I was interviewing with other companies, so it worked out. I appreciate the long, drawn out interviews because it shows that they care about a good culture fit and hiring the right candidate. Each person was really kind and had wonderful things to say about the company.

      Question 1

Typical interview questions about "tell me about a time when ...". I also signed an NDA.

      Interview

Recruiter called and did the usual screen, going over experience and what kind of role I was looking for next. They handed me off to a coordinator who scheduled me to meet with the hiring manager. The hiring manager and I spoke for half an hour, mostly about the day to day of managing remote teams. We ended on what I thought were good terms, with a promise that someone would follow up the next week. They explained they had other candidates to talk with, which I understood. That was over two weeks ago and I haven't heard anything since. I've emailed the recruiter a few times, no word back. I have no idea if I'm still in the running or not but at this point I have to assume no. tldr if you interview with Github, expect to be ghosted.

      Question 1

We talked about culture, KPIs for support teams, and how to forge strong bonds among remote team members.

      Technical Support Manager Interview

      Jul 15, 2015

      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at GitHub (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2015

      Interview

Recruiter responded relatively quickly to my application and was friendly and professional. Process started by using their application to answer technical support questions. Since I never used their app, read through all of their docs, or supported the product, this was time consuming for me. people there seem responsive and approachable, but they also want to maintain a level of fun, which is good.
