A call with HR and then a call with the hiring manager a few days afterward. The interview went well after spending a good amount of time talking about their pipeline and "why Genentech," but was unfortunately not selected.
I talked to the hiring manager for this role, and we discussed my PhD thesis and research, which was a good conversation and I was really interested. But then, it was total silence, and I did not even receive any automatic rejection. Very frustrating.

it was an easy and quick 30 minute interview, we simply just had a resume debrief and discussion about the roles and responsibilities of the internship, expected started date and company culture
Pretty easy and straight forward. The hiring manager was wonderful to talk to and explained the project very elaborately. Also helped throughout my internship and Genentech was a wonderful place to work at
