      Survey Research Methodologists Interview

      Dec 9, 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Gallup

      Interview

Once the personality assessment was completed, I was emailed to notify me I could move on to the next round and to call their scheduling line. I called and scheduled my interview, which I was told would last 45 minutes. At the appropriate time, I sat and waited...and waited. For nearly 20 minutes. Finally I called back to the scheduling line and the woman had an attitude with me for asking what was going on. A few minutes later I finally got the call. Already annoyed, I proceeded with the interview, which, as everyone else has mentioned, is strictly questions about your personality. It is incredibly invasive of someone you hardly know to ask you things that essentially try to get at your familial status, background, etc. Also, the questions are often closed-ended questions, which as a public opinion company, I would expect they would want more than a yes/no answer but by the end, I gave up on elaborating. At the end of the interview, I was informed they were going to see if there was a "fit" for me which I don't actually think is true - there is something specific they are looking for and it wasn't me.

      Question 1

Are you outgoing? Are you responsible? Where do you see yourself in 5 years? How do other people know you're caring? Do you want to be friends with the people you work with?

      Interview

They have you fill out a 45 minute personality inventory online when you apply. The first interview is a structured interview where they ask you similar questions to the ones in the inventory. They're looking for short answers or even just yes/no answers. The questions ask about salary, perfectionism, working with others, and management. Three days after completing this first interview they emailed me to tell me I was a bad fit. I have to say that the interview experience was pretty off-putting. First, they made me schedule my own interview, which is not a great recruiting technique. Second, I answered their personality questions in a perfectly normal way, so I was surprised they rejected me on that alone.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Do you think people should be paid a set amount or be paid based on performance? Do you try hard? (y/n) Should managers pay attention to high performers or low performers? Are you more responsible than most people?

      Interview

Applied online. Then complete an online personality test. Got a phone interview one week later. Ask lots of questions for 45 minutes. Called by a lady from London office. The questions include both personality and behavioral questions. They are trying to find a specific type of person fits the company.
