      Sr. Employee Relations Specialist Interview

      Aug 22, 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Detroit, MI
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Ford Motor Company (Detroit, MI) in Jul 2023

      Interview

On July 11th, I interviewed for the Sr. Employee Relations Specialist role and met with two Employee Relations Directors. This interview was scheduled to last for 60 min, but it barely lasted for about 20 min and neither of them asked me barely anything. To me, it seemed like they already had their mind made up to not hire me and were probably just going through the motions. Then, when I followed up with the two recruiters involved in scheduling my interviews, on 7/17 and 7/24, neither of them responded to my email and as of today on 8/17 they still have not followed up to provide me with any feedback. It wasn't until the first week of August when the person who referred me to this role finally followed up to say one of the Directors I met with told her I didn't really provide many examples of my work and I told this person that neither of these Directors asked me much of anything. I have done several interviews and normally the hiring manager does a pretty good job of facilitating the call to make good use of the scheduled time and we normally wrap things up around the scheduled end time of the call. Also, I would think the hiring manager would now how to have an adequate amount of questions prepared in advance to get the necessary information they need about a candidate’s relevant work experience. The few questions they did ask were very vague and then the person who referred me said she forgot to mention to the Directors (one of whom is her direct boss) that I was someone she referred because she was too busy and forgot to tell her. This entire process was very sloppy and I will never apply for a job with Ford or do business with them ever again. I am letting all of my work acquittances know about my poor experience with Ford as well. When the job market shifts back in favor of job seekers, people will remember those companies that treated them poorly in the past.
