      Operations Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Flexport (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

I think this company has a lot of potential and that's why I applied. There were some awesome employees I spoke with, and one/two that absolutely should not be conducting interviews. I'm writing this as constructive criticism because the 'awesome employees' that I met need to either replace the burned out ones or not have them conduct interviews. My initial Skype interview the employee missed the interview despite being online. I understand if he is working on resolving a clients issue, but don't ignore me until the end of the day to send a note to reschedule. I wasted two hours prepping for the interview and another hour because you were online and I assumed you might have thought it was a little later and/or would respond. When I eventually had my Skype interview he was late again and it was extremely rushed. My second Skype interview the team member missed our meeting and he was online. He ignored my message on Skype and by email. Later I get a note to reschedule the meeting for the following week. He misses the second Skype meeting and never responds to me again. I wasted a combined 3-4 hours of prepping and waiting around for this interview. I reached out to the person in charge of HR and they apologized and scheduled me with a different team member (Side note: The HR person is wearing multiple hats and is very nice, but differentiate between who really are your "all-star" colleagues and who aren't. The ones who aren't should NOT be interviewing and wasting candidates time). During this period I justified their complete lack of respect for my time as a result of how busy they were, how badly they must need more employees to help, and I believed in their idea. Most people would have written the company off by now. You're going to lose future talent. My next Skype interview went well. The individual was extremely personable, answered all of my questions, and made me feel great about the company again. Eventually I had an in person interview. I have serious doubts on whether they completely forgot I was coming in for my interview that day. I waited in the lobby for an extra 15 minutes (which I didn't mind) but for the fact when they moved me into the conference room they didn't know who was supposed to interview me. They also didn't have a copy of my resume (not a big deal I had extra) and hadn't prepared any questions. The meetings seemed rushed and a bit chaotic. I met with a total of five people. Four were genuine and I enjoyed our conversations. The other was either looking out the glass conference door or on his phone texting (as he asks me shallow questions) the whole time. At the end of the fifth interview the COO told me the person in charge of HR would come talk to me before I left. Ten minutes later he came back, apologized and said the individual was busy and would be in contact within a day or so. I emailed all of them follow up Thank-Yous. I didn't hear back on the Thank You note to the person in charge of HR at all. I emailed again the next week and didn't receive a response that I didn't get an offer until 2 weeks later. I was disappointed but ultimately it's for the best.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Not much technical. Just fit and personality. Tell me about yourself...as they look at your resume for the first time. Hypothetical case study. Not going to list it out of respect for the COO.

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Flexport in Apr 2022

      Interview

LONG and extensive. Just because you move on to the next round doesn’t mean they like you. My interview consisted of a case study, 6 interviews including HR screen. People were all very nice and not intimidating.

      Question 1

      1) why Flexport? 2) tell me about a teamwork experience 3) tell me about your work style

      Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Flexport in Jul 2019

      Interview

It was meeting with several folks on the team, I believe 5 team members in total. 1 was the City Manager. Then there was also a Case Study. The Case Study was supervised by one of the people I interviewed with and was very challenging (but that is by design). It is less about what you know and how well you problem solve.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The Case Study was an example of a client having a specific operational issue that you were supposed to solve for.
